Invited Panel Annotation
The EAWOP Congress is an important event to share knowledge and ideas, inspire research and practice and facilitate meaningful networking opportunities. In addition to that, it should be the occasion to reflect on the current state and future direction of Work and Organizational Psychology (WOP) across Europe. While the discipline is experiencing significant growth, its development varies between countries due to differences in socio-economic, cultural and institutional contexts. In this rapidly evolving landscape, several pressing questions arise: How successfully has the gap between academic research and practice been bridged? What additional steps are needed to ensure that research findings are translated into practical solutions? How effective are current education and training programs in WOP? And how can the discipline increase its influence on practitioners, organizational leaders and policy makers to address emerging challenges in the world of work? Answering these questions requires a nuanced understanding of both global trends and country-specific dynamics. This panel discussion brings together representatives from different EAWOP Constituent Associations, each with unique insights and experiences in the development and application of WOP in their national contexts. By exploring the successes and challenges they face, we aim to identify actionable strategies to advance the discipline across Europe. It also provides a platform to reflect on the role of Constituent Associations and identify strategies to enhance collaboration between them, EAWOP, local and global institutions and policy makers. Strengthening these partnerships is critical to advancing the mission of promoting the development and application of Work and Organizational Psychology across Europe.
